ABOUT ENE

The trio
Elin Anderzon was born in 1980 and grew up in Upplands-Väsby in Stockholm. She wanted to play the nyckelharpa alredy in 1982, but she was told that her arms had to grow longer first, and her parents gave her a violin instead. Elin got angry and the violin broke somehow... Ten years later she got to play nyckelharpa with Ann-Christine Granfors, whose father Ole did build Elins first nyckelharpa, nr 18. Elin have recieved sholarships for playing the nyckelharpa, and in 2004 she was recognized as "riksspelman" of the nyckelharpa, a respected title held by many of the greatest folk-musicans in Sweden.

Elin lives in a house in Sollentuna, Stockholm together with Edward Anderzon. He was born in 1972 in Katrineholm, and started playing the nyckelharpa and violin as a young boy. As a participant in the "spelmanslag" (a Swedish term for a gathering of local folkmusicans) he got to play with both ather folk-musicans and dancers as well. After studying music for many years, Edward now works as a teacher in nyckelharpa and violin. He has also been recognized as a riksspelman of violin, in 2003.

When Elin Anderzon and Edward Anderzon play together they call themselves "Elin & Edward" and they have have a homepage: http://www.elinoedward.se/. In 2005 they recorded an album, "Låtar från Ost" (Eastern tunes), there´s samples from it here. At a spelmansstämma in the summer of 2005, promoting the new album, Elin and Edward met a bassplayer, Niklas Willén, and together they formed ENE.
Niklas Willén was born in 1984 in Enköping and started out as a trumpet player in the school band. After a few years he learned to play the guitar but ended up playing the bass. He also learned to play nyckelharpa at the age of 17. When Niklas met Elin and Edward he played double-bass, but he is also playing a 12-string guitar on occation. Niklas is currently working as a Executive Officer at the National Library of Sweden.
